The current recommended treatment guidelines for a PAL in adolescent secondary to a spontaneous pneumothorax are surgical. Autologous blood patch offers an inexpensive, easy to perform the technique and avoids the use of toxic chemicals for pleurodesis in pediatric patients. The use of autologous blood patch for pleurodesis should be considered in the pediatric population for prolonged air leak.
